SIR DOUGLAS HAIG, G. C. B.
Field Marshal of Great Britain. He was born June 19, 1861, at Cameron Bridge, Fife, Scotland. He married Hon. Dorothy Vivian in 1905. Hon. fellow of Brasenose College, Oxford. He joined 7th Hussars, 1885. He served in Sudan, 1898; South Africa, 1899. He is A. D. C. to King. Was Inspector-General Cavalry, India, 1903-1906; Major-General, 1904; Chief of Staff, India, 1909 to 1912; General Officer, in command of First Army in France, 1914-1915; Field Marshal, commanding entire British forces in France, 1916.
